About the role

Ameris Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. This position involves engaging with clients and referral sources to originate and close mortgage loans. Key responsibilities include maintaining NMLS compliance, establishing client relationships, counseling customers on available products, assisting with loan applications, and promoting loan products through networking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an active NMLS number
• Establish and maintain client relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and other referral agents
• Contact potential or existing customers to develop new business or retain existing business
• Counsel customers on available products and ensure they fit their financial needs
• Absorb initial documentation and disclosures for loan applications and submit applications within required timelines
• Maintain loan processes by monitoring status and ensuring conformity with terms
• Communicate with loan processors regarding workflow and file coordination, and assist in collecting additional documents
• Adhere to minimum fees and product pricing structures
• Network through industry functions and promote loan products
• Attend purchase loan closing transactions on behalf of Ameris Bank Mortgage
• Update branch managers on sales call efforts and meet regularly with loan processors to review pipeline reports
• Support cross-selling opportunities and other initiatives with branch managers and other sales personnel
• Stay informed on all Ameris Bank Mortgage loan programs and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements
• Meet and exceed minimum production standards as outlined in the compensation agreement
• Attend required meetings and complete required training
• Adhere to work schedule as designated by manager
• Practice ethical sales behaviors in line with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty

Requirements

• Experience using mortgage origination applications
• Effective utilization of a contact management system
• Knowledge of mortgage products/servicing, operations, and current market trends
• Proven mortgage production of $5 million over the past year
• Proven success in establishing referral relationships
• Minimum 1 year of Mortgage experience
• Minimum 1 year of Customer Service experience
• High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
