Mortgage Banker Outside Sales
About the role
Responsible for sales efforts to originate and close mortgage loans. Key duties include maintaining NMLS number, establishing client relationships, contacting potential customers, assisting with loan applications, overseeing the loan process, networking, attending closing transactions, and reporting progress to managers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an active NMLS number in compliance with federal regulations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and other referral sources.
- Contact potential or existing customers to develop new business or retain existing business.
- Counsel customers on available products and ensure they choose the best fit for their financial needs.
- Absorb and explain required initial documentation and disclosures to customers.
- Submit loan applications within required timelines and oversee the loan process.
- Communicate with loan processors about workflow and file coordination, and assist in collecting additional documents.
- Adhere to established minimum fees and product pricing structures.
- Network through industry-related functions and promote loan products.
- Attend purchase loan closing transactions on behalf of Ameris Bank Mortgage.
- Update branch managers on sales call efforts and meet regularly with loan processors to review pipeline reports.
- Support bank cross-selling opportunities and other initiatives.
- Stay informed on all Ameris Bank Mortgage loan programs and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Meet and exceed minimum production standards as outlined in the compensation agreement.
- Attend all required meetings and complete all required training.
- Adhere to work schedule as designated by manager.
- Promote ethical sales behaviors consistent with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty.
Requirements
- Experience using mortgage origination applications.
- Effective utilization of a contact management system.
- Knowledge of mortgage products/servicing, operations, and current market trends.
- Proven mortgage production of $5 million over the past year.
- Proven success in establishing referral relationships.
- Minimum 1 year of Mortgage experience.
- Minimum 1 year of Customer Service experience.
- High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
