About the role

Ameris Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. This role involves engaging directly with clients and referral sources to originate and close mortgage loans. Key responsibilities include maintaining NMLS compliance, building client relationships, counseling customers on available products, and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an active NMLS number
• Establish and maintain relationships with realtors, builders, developers, and other referral agents
• Contact potential or existing customers to develop new business or retain existing business
• Counsel customers on mortgage products and ensure they choose the best fit for their financial needs
• Absorb responsibility for loan applications, providing initial documentation, and submitting applications within required timelines
• Maintain oversight of the loan process, coordinating with processors, and communicating loan status to all parties
• Network through industry functions and promote mortgage products
• Attend purchase loan closing transactions and communicate regularly with branch managers
• Support cross-selling opportunities and other initiatives
• Stay informed on all Ameris Bank Mortgage loan programs and comply with regulatory requirements
• Meet and exceed minimum production standards as outlined in the compensation agreement
• Participate in required meetings and complete necessary training
• Adhere to work schedule as designated by manager
• Practice ethical sales behaviors consistent with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Mortgage experience
• Minimum 1 year of Customer Service experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Skills

• Experience using mortgage origination applications
• Effective utilization of a contact management system
• Knowledge of mortgage products/servicing, operations, and current market trends

Qualifications

• Proven mortgage production of $5 million over the past year
• Proven success in establishing referral relationships
