About the Role
A Medical Assistant responsible for patient examination, treatment support, and administrative duties under physician supervision.
Responsibilities
- Maintain patient flow, document review, and record vital signs, medical history, and medication updates in EMR.
- Prepare patient charts by scanning, abstracting, and verifying diagnostic and medical reports; access external information as needed.
- Refill and pre-authorize medications, manage medication samples, and dispose of expired drugs.
- Prepare exam rooms, order supplies, and ensure cleanliness and readiness for patient visits.
- Gather medical information from patients, respond to communications, and manage work queues in EMR.
- Answer calls, schedule appointments, check-in/out patients, and handle pre-certifications for treatments.
- Operate diagnostic equipment like EKGs and perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy and cast removal.
- Follow safety protocols, maintain confidentiality, and support quality patient care and experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in various care settings preferred.
- Proficient in computer systems, EMR, and scheduling software.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work respectfully with patients and staff.
- Clinical skills like phlebotomy, EKGs, and sutures are highly preferred.
- BLS certification required; Certified/Registered MA preferred.
