LPN, Licensed Practical Nurse - Med Surg- Full-Time - Days

About the Role

Reports to the Nursing Director or designee. Applies the nursing process utilizing the Relationship Based Care framework to establish strong patient-family relationships. Collaborates with professional, clinical, and ancillary staff to provide quality care. Exhibits self-care and self-knowing to ensure empathetic and compassionate interactions.

Patient Care Delivery

• Implements the nursing plan of care under the direction/supervision of a Registered Nurse.

• Administers medications, monitors IVs and blood transfusions, checks vital signs, and performs routine treatments and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy as needed and maintains accurate patient records, including medications, treatments, and incident reports.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited LPN school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Indiana.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of job-related experience preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrates high-level knowledge and competency in interdisciplinary patient planning and nursing care under RN supervision.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of obtaining the position.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills to implement patient care plans and recognize potential problems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build therapeutic relationships with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
• Team-oriented with the ability to provide constructive feedback and participate in decision-making.
• Flexibility and adaptability to support change and departmental functions.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of patient growth, development, and treatment needs across all age groups (adolescent, adult, geriatric).
• Responsiveness to scheduling needs and adaptability due to extenuating circumstances.

• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Functions within the legal boundaries of the Indiana Nurse Practice Act.

Working Conditions

• Works in a patient care environment with physical exertion, frequent job demands, and exposure to bio-hazards or bloodborne pathogens.

Physical Demands

• Requires physical ability and stamina to walk/stand for prolonged periods, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, and position/lift patients (up to 35 pounds unassisted; over 35 pounds requires assistance).
• Ability to perform CPR and other essential physical functions of the position.
