About the role
The ITAM Analyst III – Software Asset Management supports Software Asset Management modernization by managing and improving software contract, entitlement, renewal, usage, ownership, compliance, and vendor data. This role supports software cost optimization, tool rationalization, governed intake, renewal readiness, audit preparation, vendor governance, SAM reporting, and CMDB alignment.
Responsibilities
- Helps ensure software assets are visible, governed, cost-effective, compliant, and aligned to enterprise technology standards.
- Partners with ITAM, Procurement, Finance, Security, Legal, Workforce, Endpoint, Support Center, Product, application owners, and vendors to improve software lifecycle governance, reduce unmanaged renewals, support self-service software access, strengthen CMDB alignment, and improve leadership visibility through reliable reporting.
- Analyzes software data, identifies trends and risks, recommends improvements, coordinates with stakeholders, supports complex renewals and software reviews, and helps improve SAM processes and controls.
- Supports HAM operations at the Reston, VA office, helping ensure hardware moves, shipping/receiving, inventory reviews, and device recovery activities run smoothly.
Requirements
- Strong analytical thinking, communication, customer service, attention to detail, follow-through, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to work through complex software issues across multiple systems, teams, vendors, and governance processes.
- Ability to support technology inventory reviews, software true-up activities, audit evidence preparation, vendor data validation, renewal reviews, software utilization analysis, and special projects.
- Ability to support hardware-related activities where software entitlement, device assignment, or endpoint software deployment data is required.
- Ability to participate in onsite meetings, vendor reviews, audits, operational activities, or cross-functional working sessions as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and escalate risks or blockers before they impact delivery.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of ITAM Analyst experience with Flexara and hardware management.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of modern SAM platforms, SaaS management tools, license optimization methods, CMDB data practices, software discovery, software metering, AI-enabled productivity tools, reporting dashboards, vendor management capabilities, and compliance practices.
- Ability to apply technology learning in practical ways by leading improvements that reduce manual work, improve software data accuracy, strengthen audit readiness, improve reporting, increase license reuse and reclamation, and enhance the employee software request and fulfillment experience.
- Experience with software asset management, software compliance, CMDB alignment, vendor governance, software intake, and audit readiness.
