Description
The mission of The PATHfinder Club is to create supportive paths for youth whose lives have been impacted by incarceration, detention and deportation. We co-create a community where Club members feel comfortable and confident to stay in school and graduate, set and achieve goals, expand their resilience, conquer challenges, embrace opportunities for healing and self-expression and connect in meaningful ways with their peers, loved ones and their community.
Responsibilities
- Attend weekly meetings at Venice High School during lunch on Mondays
- Engage with students to support their academic and personal growth
- Provide a safe space for students to share their experiences and feelings
- Help students set and work towards academic and personal goals
- Encourage students to connect with each other and their community
Requirements
- Commit to attending all meetings throughout the academic year
- Be available for one hour per week
- Have a positive attitude and willingness to listen and support students
- Be able to maintain confidentiality regarding student information
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build trust and rapport with students
- Experience working with youth or in a similar setting is preferred but not required
