In-School Volunteer for Students Impacted by Incarceration Parkrose High School

Description

The mission of The PATHfinder Club is to create supportive paths for youth whose lives have been impacted by incarceration, detention and deportation. We co-create a community where Club members feel comfortable and confident to stay in school and graduate, set and achieve goals, expand their resilience, conquer challenges, embrace opportunities for healing and self-expression and connect in meaningful ways with their peers, loved ones and their community.

Responsibilities

• Attend weekly meetings at Parkrose High School during lunch on Thursdays
• Support Club members in staying in school and achieving academic success
• Help build a sense of community and belonging among club members
• Encourage and support students in setting and achieving personal goals
• Provide a safe space for students to express themselves and share their experiences
• Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to enhance the club's impact

Requirements

• Commitment to the duration of the entire school year (one hour per week)
• Willingness to attend weekly meetings at Parkrose High School during lunch on Thursdays
• Ability to provide a positive and supportive environment for students
• Open-mindedness and willingness to engage with diverse perspectives and experiences

Qualifications

• Passion for supporting youth and promoting educational success
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with adolescents or a related field is a plus
