Description
The mission of The PATHfinder Club is to create supportive paths for youth whose lives have been impacted by incarceration, detention and deportation. We co-create a community where Club members feel comfortable and confident to stay in school and graduate, set and achieve goals, expand their resilience, conquer challenges, embrace opportunities for healing and self-expression and connect in meaningful ways with their peers, loved ones and their community.
Responsibilities
- Attend weekly meetings at Parkrose High School during lunch on Thursdays
- Support Club members in staying in school and achieving academic success
- Help build a sense of community and belonging among club members
- Encourage and support students in setting and achieving personal goals
- Provide a safe space for students to express themselves and share their experiences
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to enhance the club's impact
Requirements
- Commitment to the duration of the entire school year (one hour per week)
- Willingness to attend weekly meetings at Parkrose High School during lunch on Thursdays
- Ability to provide a positive and supportive environment for students
- Open-mindedness and willingness to engage with diverse perspectives and experiences
Qualifications
- Passion for supporting youth and promoting educational success
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with adolescents or a related field is a plus
