In-School Volunteer for Students Impacted by Incarceration at El Camino Real Charter High School

Description

The mission of The PATHfinder Club is to create supportive paths for youth whose lives have been impacted by incarceration, detention and deportation. We co-create a community where Club members feel comfortable and confident to stay in school and graduate, set and achieve goals, expand their resilience, conquer challenges, embrace opportunities for healing and self-expression and connect in meaningful ways with their peers, loved ones and their community.

Responsibilities

• Attend weekly meetings at El Camino Real Charter High School during lunch on Tuesdays
• Engage in activities designed to support students' academic and personal growth
• Provide a safe and supportive environment for students to share their experiences and feelings
• Help students set and work towards academic and personal goals
• Encourage students to connect with their peers, loved ones, and the broader community

Requirements

• Commitment to volunteering throughout the entire academic year
• One hour per week
• Willingness to attend weekly meetings at El Camino Real Charter High School during lunch on Tuesdays

Qualifications

• Passion for supporting youth impacted by incarceration, detention, and deportation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students
• Experience working with adolescents is a plus
