Description
The mission of The PATHfinder Club is to create supportive paths for youth whose lives have been impacted by incarceration, detention and deportation. We co-create a community where Club members feel comfortable and confident to stay in school and graduate, set and achieve goals, expand their resilience, conquer challenges, embrace opportunities for healing and self-expression and connect in meaningful ways with their peers, loved ones and their community.
Responsibilities
- Attend weekly meetings at Culver City High School during lunch on Tuesdays
- Support students who have been impacted by incarceration, detention and deportation
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for club members
- Help students set and achieve academic and personal goals
- Encourage students to connect with their peers, loved ones and the broader community
Requirements
- Commit to attending all meetings throughout the academic year
- Be available for one hour each week
- Have a positive attitude and willingness to listen and support students
- Be able to maintain confidentiality regarding student information
Qualifications
- Pass a background check
- Experience working with youth is preferred but not required

- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build trust and rapport with students
- Empathy and patience
