About the role

The Housing Supervisor is pivotal to the oversight and coordination of our Housing programs, which include Pa’Lante, Youth in College, Pierce House, Flexible Housing Pool, KEYS, and more. These programs are framed by our principles of Housing First, Harm Reduction, Case Management, and Trauma-Informed Care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee our Housing Programs at La Casa Norte, driving impactful solutions to homelessness.
  • Manage daily operations of LCN Housing Programs, including the include Pa’Lante, Youth in College, Pierce House, Flexible Housing Pool, KEYS, and more.
  • Ensure program data and documentation is maintained in compliance with agency and external policies and procedures and applicable funding standards.
  • Ensure that programmatic strategic objectives and outcomes are achieved.
  • Supervise case management activities, supporting participant housing placement, income enhancement, health and wellness improvement, life skills development, and family stability.
  • Act as the main contact for housing programs matters, coordinating referrals, tenant/landlord issues and cross program coordination.
  • Cultivate relationships with community providers for comprehensive participant support.
  • Collaborate with program leadership on annual program plans, providing quarterly and annual updates on progress.
  • Intervene in crises, ensure budget compliance, and review housing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current regulations and best practices.
  • Implement best practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and adapt to changes.
  • Work collaboratively with LCN property management team to ensure participant housing needs are met and housing safety guidelines are maintained in all units.
  • Use Motivational Interviewing techniques for positive behavioral change.
  • Work collaboratively with case managers to conduct home visits and to develop tailored service plans for clients, outlining clear goals and tasks towards housing stability and financial self-sufficiency.
  • Provide counseling and mentorship, individually and in groups.
  • Offer crisis support to clients during nights and weekends as needed.
  • Advocate for clients at landlord/tenant court and other legal settings when necessary.
  • Address systemic barriers to housing access.
  • Provide effective leadership by adapting management styles as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 supervision with assigned case management team, provide ongoing support and feedback as needed to ensure successful program delivery and strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Administer probationary and annual performance review and employee goal plan.
  • Ensure the case management team is appropriately trained and has access to all necessary resources to successfully meet performance objectives.
  • Foster transparent and accountable team culture.
  • Maintain quality of services and resolve conflicts.
  • Promote continuous learning and peer mentorship.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and other staff training sessions.
  • Play a proactive role in fundraising efforts, including helping organize fundraising events, and building relationships with potential donors.
  • Engage with local community organizations and leaders to foster partnerships and collaborations that will enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to new program development.
  • Stay current with field developments through workshops and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as necessitated in the supervision of the program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field or at least five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Reliable vehicle with insurance and valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with homeless and at-risk youth.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, or training peers or interdisciplinary teams.
  • Skilled in group facilitation and diverse environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of housing first, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple programs and physical sites as needed.
  • Ability to pass a DCFS Background Check.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in supportive housing, emergency shelter, youth services, or reentry work.
  • Familiarity with CaseWorthy, HMIS, or other case management systems.

Compensation and Benefits

Includes: Paid Time Off: 14 vacation days per year.
Personal Days: 7 personal days per year (may be carried over into the following year but must be used by December 31 of that year).
Holidays: 10 paid holidays annually.
Sick Leave: 6 sick days per year (up to 20 hours of unused sick time may be carried over year to year).
