About the Role
The Health Care Technician (HCT) supports licensed nursing staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Primary duties include assisting with patient personal care, hygiene, and daily activities, as well as facilitating communication among departments, visitors, and staff. The HCT helps maintain unit supplies, documents patient data accurately, and demonstrates competency in skills such as vital signs measurement, blood glucose monitoring, and intake/output recording.
The HCT prepares patients for transportation, provides direct patient care including hygiene, feeding, and tidying rooms, and assists with removing lines and catheters. They monitor patient safety through bedside care and remote video systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate with monitoring services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days
- At least one semester of nursing clinical experience, recent CNA work, or completion of relevant training programs
- Relevant medical or military training, CNA coursework within past 24 months
