About the role
Gilead is seeking a full-time Residential Nurse to join our Farrell Treatment Center program staff. The position is located in the New Britain area and offers 32 hours per week, specifically Tuesday-Friday from 4PM-12PM.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the well-being and stability of individuals in the program by providing and coordinating medical, psychiatric, and pharmacologic treatments, including psychopharmacology and Medication-Assisted Treatments (MAT).
- Support non-medical staff members and coordinate care with the program physician and prescribers.
- Assist the Nurse Supervisor in overseeing health-related care for substance abuse, medical, and pharmacological issues.
- Screen new referrals and evaluate clients at intake.
- Occasionally cover as back-up for the Nurse Supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred.
- Three years of experience in the mental health and addictions field.
- Maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.
Qualifications
- Connecticut licensure for Registered Nurse required.
Skills
- Knowledge of severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders.
- Medical knowledge related to health and well-being.
- Ability to maintain contact with MDs for coordinated medical and psychiatric care.
- Experience working with pharmacies to facilitate proper pharmaceutical care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct health histories, initial nursing assessments, and medical evaluations.
- Proficiency in managing the medication self-administration system.
