Freight Handler - Part-Time

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area to and from trailers for loading, using motorized and manual equipment. Key Responsibilities Handle freight with equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.Verify freight documentation matches description, including type, weight, and hazards.Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes.Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.Complete required documentation and reports accurately.Assist customers with freight and documentation when necessary.Perform hostling duties if required, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.Adhere to all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift heavy freight, and open trailer doors.Strong physical fitness to bend, twist, squat, push, and pull freight.Good communication skills and ability to work independently or with a team.Previous dock or warehouse experience is a plus. Working Conditions: Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, noise; fast-paced, deadline-driven setting; frequent contact with personnel.
