Freight Handler - Part-Time

Role Overview: This position involves transporting freight within the dock area, moving cargo to and from trailers for loading and unloading. Key Responsibilities Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools like straps and ropes.Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.Complete all required documentation and reports accurately.Assist customers with freight and related documentation.Perform hostling duties if required and ensure compliance with safety laws and company policies.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and open trailer doors.Strong physical ability to bend, twist, push, pull, and lift cargo multiple times daily.Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Working Conditions: The role is based in a dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, noise, and dust. Work may require physical effort and adaptability to operational needs. Frequent interaction with service personnel occurs in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
