Freight Handler - Part-Time

Role Overview: This position involves transporting freight within a dock environment, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo for loading and unloading processes. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks for freight movement.Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using straps, ropes, and pallets, and repair damaged cargo when necessary.Complete required documentation and assist with freight-related customer service.Perform hostling duties if needed, adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation is preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and open trailer doors.Strong physical ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull cargo.Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Working Conditions: The role involves working in a dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise. The work is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring frequent contact with team members.
