Freight Handler - Part-Time

Role Overview: This position involves transporting freight within a dock environment, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and security of cargo for loading and unloading trailers. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight.Verify freight details against documentation, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes, and repair damaged cargo when needed.Complete required reports and assist with freight documentation and customer interactions.Perform hostling duties if required, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.Maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies, performing additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation is preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and open trailer doors requiring significant force.Strong physical ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight regularly.Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Working Conditions: The role is in a dock setting with exposure to weather, fumes, noise, and dust. It requires physical effort and may involve variable hours based on operational needs, with frequent contact with team members in a fast-paced environment.
