Freight Handler - Part-Time

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and securing of cargo for loading and unloading. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight.Verify freight details against documentation, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure cargo inside trailers using appropriate tools like straps and ropes.Address damaged freight through recoup or repair procedures.Complete required reports and assist with freight documentation and customer interactions.Perform hostling duties if necessary and adhere to all safety and regulatory standards.Support other duties as assigned in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and handle physical tasks such as bending and pushing.Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Prior dock or warehouse experience is advantageous. Working Conditions: Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, noise; fast-paced, deadline-driven setting with frequent contact with personnel.
