FIT NYC Adjunct Faculty Pool - Film, Media, and Performing Arts, Costume Design Courses
FIT, an internationally renowned college of art and design, business, and technology within the State University of New York, seeks a part-time adjunct faculty member for the History of Art Department in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. About the role
The Film, Media, and Performing Arts department is recruiting adjunct instructors to teach one or more of the following fashion history survey courses:
- FI 214 - Costume Design for Film
- FI 262/HA 347 - Costume and Fashion in Film
- HA 275 - Costume in Period Films
- HA 263 - Fashion in Film
Adjunct instructors deliver course material, assess student performance, provide guidance both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog.
Requirements
- Master’s degree required (may be waived if the candidate is enrolled in a doctoral program with no Master’s degree requirement).
- Thirty (30) additional graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities, and teaching experience.
Qualifications
Preferred: PhD or other terminal degree in a relevant field.
Schedule
This is a part-time, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will maintain this posting to create a pool of candidates for potential future assignments.
Pay
Compensation is governed by the UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The base rate is $89.98 per hour for minimum qualifications. Final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher based on demonstrated qualifications, as outlined in the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).
