FIT, an internationally renowned college of art and design, business, and technology within the State University of New York, invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing Department, part of the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology. With a curriculum blending hands-on experience, classroom study, and liberal arts, FIT offers over 45 majors and grants AAS, BFA, BS, MA, MFA, and MPS degrees, preparing students for leadership in the global marketplace.

The Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing programs at FIT take a hands-on approach to preparing students for the beauty industry, offering one of the few such programs in the country. Students explore the field from global and local perspectives, gaining skills and experience to forge successful careers. The program and faculty maintain close industry ties, focusing on sustainability, emerging technologies, and corporate social responsibility.

About the role

FIT seeks an industry professional to join the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing department as an Adjunct Instructor. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep roots in the beauty industry, specifically in product strategy, product development, and brand management. This role involves delivering relevant course material, assessing student performance, providing guidance, and submitting grades on time.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses within the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing department, delivering engaging, industry-informed instruction aligned with departmental learning objectives.
  • Integrate professional experience into course material to provide real-world insight into product strategy, product development, and brand management.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment and demonstrate a commitment to mentoring and developing the next generation of beauty industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (required).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of professional experience in the cosmetics and/or fragrance industry.
  • Demonstrated passion for educating and mentoring students pursuing careers in the beauty and fragrance industries.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex industry concepts into accessible learning experiences.
  • Ability to connect marketing theory with real-world industry practice.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and inclusive teaching practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in cosmetics and fragrance marketing or related areas within the beauty industry.

Pay

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs compensation. The base rate is $89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher depending on the candidate’s ability to demonstrate additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," as outlined in the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules.

Schedule
