About the Institution

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business, and technology within the State University of New York, has been a leader in career education for over 70 years. The Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology educates students for leadership roles in the fashion and creative industries. Its curriculum integrates market awareness, business environments, and global competition. The school collaborates with the School of Art and Design and the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences to develop critical thinking, professional responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills. Seven of its undergraduate programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

About the Role

The Marketing Communications Department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in areas such as marketing communications, video production, computer applications, journalism, brand management, public relations, marketing research, copywriting, digital marketing, or media planning.

Adjunct instructors deliver course material, assess student performance, provide guidance, and submit grades on time. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver relevant course material in marketing communications or related fields.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Create and execute team projects to develop students' interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s degree in the field or a closely related field.
  • Teaching experience at the college level.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current marketing communications practices, including trends, research methodologies, content creation, and social media platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Learning Management Platforms.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software, including Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to design and facilitate team projects addressing real-world marketing challenges.

Additional Information

This is a part-time adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will maintain this posting to create a pool of candidates for potential future assignments and will contact applicants whose qualifications align with programmatic needs.

Pay

Compensation is governed by the UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The base rate is $89.98 per hour for candidates meeting minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher based on demonstrated qualifications, as outlined in the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).
