About the Role

The English and Communication Studies Department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible part-time adjunct teaching positions beginning in Spring 2026. Successful candidates will teach one or more courses in Communication Studies, with a special interest in Professional Speech Communication and Public Speaking. Responsibilities include delivering course material, assessing student performance, providing guidance both in and out of the classroom, and submitting grades in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Communication Studies, particularly Professional Speech Communication and Public Speaking.
• Deliver relevant course material and assess student performance.
• Provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom.
• Submit grades in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Earned Master's degree in Communication, Communication Studies, or a closely related area. The requirement may be waived if the candidate is in a doctoral program where the Master's degree is not required.
• Thirty (30) additional and appropriate graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities, and college-level teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Preferred: PhD or other terminal degree in Communication Studies or a closely related field.

Pay

Compensation is governed by the UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The base rate is $89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher if the candidate meets additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," as outlined in the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).
