About the role

Individuals appointed will teach tailoring courses at multiple levels within the Menswear Design AAS Degree Program. The position requires an in-depth understanding of classic and bespoke tailoring techniques. The successful candidate will instruct students in a comprehensive range of hands-on methods essential for constructing meticulously crafted, fully lined suit jackets, including all stages of bespoke garment creation from fabric cutting to finishing details.

Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time.

Responsibilities

  • Teach tailoring courses within the Menswear Design AAS Degree Program.
  • Instruct students in classic and bespoke tailoring techniques, including fabric cutting, garment construction, and finishing details for fully lined suit jackets.
  • Deliver course material and assess student performance.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to students in and out of the classroom.
  • Submit grades on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent certificate required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of full-time professional tailoring experience.
  • In-depth understanding of classic and bespoke tailoring techniques.
  • Expertise in all aspects of garment creation, from fabric cutting to finishing details of bespoke pieces.
  • Basic computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching at the college level.
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Skills

  • Mastery of bespoke tailoring methods and garment construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in classroom and studio environments.
  • Familiarity with classroom technology and college course management systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Schedule

This is a part-time, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026.

Pay

$89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank may be higher based on qualifications and experience, in accordance with the UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement.
