Dietary Assistant Full-Time Float
About the Role
Join the MercyOne family as a Dietary Assistant and assist in providing high-quality, appropriate food service to meet the nutritional requirements of all age groups, from infants to the elderly. This role involves assembling and delivering food trays/meals, working in the dish room, and performing various cleaning duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing patient/resident trays and meals by setting up stations and preparing menu items according to guidelines.
- Ensure accurate serving and maintain a safe, sanitary environment for food service and equipment cleaning.
- Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
- Clean and prepare dishes and utensils for washing, and properly store them after washing.
- Clean dish machines and/or the pots and pans area per procedure.
- Demonstrate positive communication, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
- Show flexibility to complete tasks as assigned.
- Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment and adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and food safety (e.g., HIPAA).
- Maintain a cordial and courteous attitude with coworkers, staff, patients/residents, and guests.
Requirements
- Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform simple calculations.
- Manual dexterity and motor coordination to operate food service equipment, dish machines, and serve food on traylines.
- Effective communication skills.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Schedule
- Full time, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week).
- Varied shifts based on departmental needs.
- Weekend and holiday rotation required.
