Dietary Assistant Full-Time Float
About the Role
Join the MercyOne family as a Dietary Assistant. You will assist in providing high-quality and appropriate food service to meet the nutritional requirements of all age groups, from infants to the elderly. This includes assembling and delivering food trays/meals for patients/residents, working in the dish room, and performing various cleaning-related duties.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate positive communication, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
- Show flexibility to complete tasks as assigned.
- Assist in preparing patient/resident trays/meals by setting up stations and/or preparing menu items according to guidelines, ensuring accurate serving.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for food service and cleaning of equipment, using appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
- Responsible for cleanup of station, preparing dishes and utensils for washing, and properly storing dishes and utensils after washing.
- Clean dish machine and/or pots and pans area per procedure.
Requirements
- Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment to foster a positive public image.
- Know and adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA).
- Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform simple calculations.
- Manual dexterity and motor coordination required to operate food service equipment, dish machines, pot/pan machines, and serve foods on trayline and/or in Senior Care.
- Effective communication skills.
- Maintain a cordial and courteous attitude in contacts with co-workers, MercyOne staff, patients/residents, and guests.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Schedule
- Full time, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week).
- Varied shifts based on departmental needs.
- Weekend and holiday rotation required.
