About the Role

Join the MercyOne family as a Dietary Assistant and assist in providing high-quality, appropriate food service to meet the nutritional requirements of all age groups, from infants to the elderly. This role involves assembling and delivering food trays/meals, working in the dish room, and performing various cleaning duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing patient/resident trays and meals by setting up stations and preparing menu items according to guidelines.
  • Serve meals accurately while maintaining a safe and sanitary foodservice environment.
  • Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
  • Clean and prepare dishes and utensils for washing, and properly store them afterward.
  • Clean the dish machine and/or pots and pans area per procedure.
  • Demonstrate positive communication, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
  • Adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and food safety (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment and a cordial attitude with coworkers, staff, patients, residents, and guests.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations.
  • Manual dexterity and motor coordination to operate foodservice equipment, dish machines, and serve food.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility to complete tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week).
  • Varied shifts based on departmental needs.
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required.
