Dietary Assistant Full-Time Float
About the Role
Join the MercyOne family as a Dietary Assistant and assist in providing high-quality, appropriate food service to meet the nutritional requirements of all age groups—from infants to the elderly. This role involves assembling and delivering food trays/meals, working in the dish room, and performing cleaning duties to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing patient/resident trays and meals by setting up stations and preparing menu items according to guidelines.
- Serve meals accurately while maintaining a safe and sanitary foodservice environment.
- Clean and sanitize equipment using appropriate chemicals.
- Prepare dishes and utensils for washing, properly store them after cleaning, and maintain the dish machine and/or pots and pans area.
- Demonstrate positive communication, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
- Adhere to all laws and regulations related to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA).
- Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment and a cordial attitude with coworkers, staff, patients/residents, and guests.
Requirements
- Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform simple calculations.
- Manual dexterity and motor coordination to operate foodservice equipment, dish machines, and serve food on traylines.
- Effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to complete tasks as assigned, including weekend and holiday rotations.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Schedule
- Full-time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week).
- Varied shifts based on departmental needs.
- Weekend and holiday rotation required.
