About the role

Join the MercyOne family as a Dietary Assistant. You will assist in providing high-quality and appropriate food service to meet the nutritional requirements of all age groups—from infants to the elderly—by performing tasks such as assembling and delivering food trays/meals for patients/residents, working in the dish room, and performing a variety of cleaning-related duties.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate positive communication, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to complete tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing patient/resident trays/meals by setting up stations and/or preparing menu items according to guidelines, ensuring accurate serving.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for food service and cleaning of equipment; use appropriate chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Responsible for cleanup of station, preparing dishes and utensils for washing, and properly storing dishes and utensils after washing.
  • Clean dish machine and/or pots and pans area per procedure.
  • Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment to foster a positive public image for MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center.
  • Know and adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Maintain a cordial and courteous attitude in contacts with co-workers, MercyOne staff, patients/residents, and guests.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations.
  • Manual dexterity and motor coordination required to operate food service equipment, dish machines, pot/pan machines, and serve foods on trayline and/or in Senior Care.
  • Effective communication skills.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Schedule

  • Full time, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week).
  • Varied shifts based on departmental needs.
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required.
