California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. About the role

Both lower-division and upper-division undergraduate courses are 1-, 2-, or 3-unit courses taught twice a week on campus (San Bernardino) during the 15-week Fall and Spring semesters. Instructors prepare their own syllabi, assignments, classroom activities, lecture materials, and grading rubrics, and teach the courses following department guidelines. Instructors also hold limited office hours to meet with students who need help, have questions, or require advice about their coursework.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working collaboratively and effectively with other faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing all materials for teaching assigned courses
  • In-class teaching
  • Evaluating student coursework and grading assignments

Requirements

  • Master of Arts degree in Music, or a suitably related discipline (degree in hand by time of appointment)
  • Demonstration of teaching experience at the higher education level
  • Candidates with compensating industry experience will also be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, production experience, and publications

Special Conditions

  • The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) is required and must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work

The CSUSB Department of Music provides students with a rigorous musical education as a foundation for a lifelong understanding and love of music, as well as preparation for a wide variety of careers in music. Pay

  • Lecturer A (Range 2): $5,507 – $6,677
  • Lecturer B (Range 3): $6,221 – $13,224
  • Lecturer C (Range 4): $6,825 – $14,523
  • Lecturer D (Range 5): $8,593 – $15,211

Salary is commensurate with experience and percentage of time appointed.
