School of Music - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

About the role

The School of Music at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for part-time faculty positions in all areas of music. Teaching responsibilities may include any instrument or voice, theory, composition, history, and/or musicology.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of music courses at the undergraduate level.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and maintain a dynamic curriculum.
• Participate in departmental activities and committees.
• Engage in professional development and ongoing learning.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will be contacted where positions are available. Appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

• A Master’s degree in any area of music, music performance and/or musicology, or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience in music area.
• Demonstrate ability to teach, interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
• Possession of terminal degrees in their areas of specialty, such as a D.M.A in an applied area, a Ph.D. in musicology, an Ed.D. in music education, and the like.
• Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in any area of music, music performance and/or musicology, or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience in music area.
• Candidates should demonstrate their ability to teach, interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

Skills

Preference will be given to those holding terminal degrees in their areas of specialty, such as a D.M.A in an applied area, a Ph.D. in musicology, an Ed.D. in music education, and the like.

Pay

Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.

Schedule

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
