Custodial Services Supervisor
Location: Hot Springs
Pay: $18.45 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience
About the role
This is a full-time position at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home, dedicated to "Caring for America's Heroes." The Custodial Supervisor is a key role within the Physical Plant Department, responsible for directing the work of a team of facility workers. The incumbent both supervises and assists in the cleaning and general maintenance of the facility to maintain sanitary conditions and enhance the appearance of the buildings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews and provide training and work direction
- Review and approve all timekeeping for direct staff
- Address staff issues and concerns fairly
- Conduct performance appraisals and document findings
- Monitor equipment and recommend replacement when needed
- Report maintenance problems and/or hazardous conditions
- Determine need and develop in-service training programs for staff to ensure continuous training in custodial, routine maintenance, repair, and supervision techniques
- Perform custodial and maintenance tasks, including standing, bending, and reaching for long periods of time
- Lift up to 50 lbs
Hazards include slipping on wet floors, falling from ladders, possible back strain from lifting heavy trash and furniture, and exposure to chemicals used to clean and disinfect. Incumbents work around residents who can become hostile or violent.
