This coop program offers hands-on experience with meaningful work, skill development, and networking opportunities across our service territories (Five Boroughs of New York City and Westchester County).

The coop program runs year-round as a part-time paid opportunity, lasting a semester or longer. Placements are based on business needs and may include assignments in various departments to provide broad-based knowledge of Con Edison’s structure and operations. Many coops transition to full-time roles upon graduation through entry-level opportunities like the Leadership Development Program (LDP).

Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians and engineers in supporting safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy delivery for electric, gas, and steam commodities.
  • Provide administrative support, project management assistance, data collection and analysis, forecasting support, and strategy development.
  • Perform operational support tasks tailored to departmental needs.
  • Network across the company and participate in volunteer events.
  • Fulfill a System Emergency Assignment, requiring availability during non-business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time student enrolled in a four-year college program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Major in one of the following IT disciplines: computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, data mining, data science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • For Bachelor’s candidates: at least 30 college credits and upper sophomore status.
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, and adaptability to varied assignments.
  • Self-starter with high integrity, initiative, resourcefulness, and creativity.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with a high energy level.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
