College Work Study Student- Computer Lab Aide
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education. The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program that provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students to assist with postsecondary financial needs.
About the role
The FWS program encourages students to gain experience in their prospective fields by placing them in areas and departments aligned with their area of study whenever possible. Students use their wages towards educational and living expenses. This position is located at the Harold Washington Campus within the Office of Information Technology.
Responsibilities
- Assist with inventory and restoring laptops, working closely with members of IT Associates.
- Demonstrate basic computer and hardware skills (preferred).
- Exhibit excellent time management and work ethic.
- Maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Uphold professional demeanor and provide great customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours pre-credit or credit classes.
- Must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
- Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester new students).
- Must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.
- Must not be a current full or part-time employee of the City Colleges of Chicago.
- High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.
- Must be part of the Student Financial Aid Program and approved for Federal Work Study.
- Must successfully pass CCC hiring process, including criminal background check and drug screening if “sensitive” responsibilities are in the job description.
- Promotes a positive role model and favorable public image as a City Colleges of Chicago representative.
- Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Excellence Standards.
Schedule
Flexible hours within Monday–Thursday.
Pay
$17.05 per hour. Offered rate will be determined based on whether the assigned location is on campus or off campus.
