LAB ATTENDANT (Student/Work Study)

Temporary part-time student position located on the UM-Flint campus.

About the role

The attendant will work under the direction of the Laboratory Support Supervisor assisting the College of Innovation & Technology. The position supports the various safety and stockroom needs that arise weekly.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory safety inspections and correct any deficiencies
• Assist with the creation of standard operating procedures for laboratories
• Collect hazardous waste, chemical and/or biohazardous materials
• Receive and deliver packages
• Perform stockroom inventory counts
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Currently enrolled UM-Flint student (any academic standing)
• Ability to work both independently and with a team
• Strong communication skills
• Positive attitude and motivated
• Ability to accurately input information into associated safety and stockroom logs
• Ability to work with common maintenance chemicals (Ethanol, Sodium Bicarbonate)
• Able to work a consistent schedule, including shifts encompassing at least 3 hours/day
• Comfortable working and following protocol for labs in the department, as well as BSL2 spaces (aseptic technique, sterility)

Pay

$16.50 per hour

Part-time, temporary position requiring onsite presence.
