About the Role

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital serves families in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties with comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including cancer care, cardiology, neurosurgery, and outpatient surgery. The Medical/Surgical unit cares for a variety of patients using a relationship-based care philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on illness/injury management, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, and family.
• Ensures communication of the care plan across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs per standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences, barriers to care, and population-specific needs (emotional, spiritual, cultural).

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Current RN license.
• No prior experience required.
