About the Role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida is seeking candidates to join an active and collegial group to serve as Division Chief of General Pediatrics. The division oversees six pediatric clinics providing a full spectrum of services, including well and sick visits, preventative care, adolescent-specific primary care, and management of chronic conditions.

The division also includes specialized clinics and programs:

• Newborn Nursery, continuity/residency, and Pediatric After Hours clinic
• Behavioral and Development clinic for understanding children’s developmental needs
• Craniofacial clinic offering interdisciplinary services for cleft lip and palate
• Pediatric Care Coordination Program, a family-centered and community-based service for children with special health care needs
• Center for Breastfeeding & Newborns to support new mothers and infants
• Child Protection team program for evaluating alleged child abuse and neglect
• Early Steps program providing resources and support for families of children at risk or with developmental delays

The division consists of 45 pediatricians, 1 psychiatrist, 3 psychologists, 4 therapists, 23 advanced practitioners, and dedicated nursing and administrative support.

Responsibilities

The Division Chief will cultivate an environment that advances the clinical, research, and educational missions of UF Health. Responsibilities include leading a large, multidisciplinary team and fostering collaboration across specialized clinics and programs.

About the Organization

UF Health is the University of Florida’s academic health center, comprising six health-related colleges on a single campus. The UF College of Medicine is the highest-ranked medical school in Florida. UF Health Shands, the private not-for-profit hospital system, includes seven hospitals, a Level I trauma center, a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, a regional burn center, and an emergency transport program.

Clinical services are delivered at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, ranked the #1 children’s hospital in Florida (2022-23 U.S. News & World Report) and nationally ranked in five pediatric specialties. The hospital serves as a major destination for pediatric patients with complex medical needs and is the only quaternary-care academic pediatric center in North Florida, with 208 beds, including pediatric and neonatal intensive care units.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to innovation, biomedical and psychosocial research, and training pediatric scientists. In the most recent fiscal year, the department secured over $30.5M in sponsored research. Faculty collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and research centers, including the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute, UF Genetics Institute, Powell Gene Therapy Center, and UF Health Cancer Center.

Requirements

• Board certification in Pediatrics
• Associate or Professor level
