About the role

AdvisaCare Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to support hospice patients. The organization serves patients in the CHESANING, MI area. No prior healthcare experience is required; volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. The hospice does not accept court‑ordered service hours. For inquiries, contact chickerson@advisacare.com.

Responsibilities

• Sitting bedside with hospice patients in nursing facilities
• Providing caregiver relief inside private residences
• Pet therapy (already licensed dogs) to visit with patients
• Playing guitar bedside of hospice patients
• Bereavement volunteer support calls to family and assisting with grief groups
• Pre‑med students interested in learning about gerontology patient care
• Grief support (remote)

Requirements

• Must be 18+
• Willing to submit to TB and drug tests
• Willing to be fingerprinted
• No healthcare experience needed (compassion and dependability are essential)
• Hospice does not accept court‑ordered service hours
