Charge Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Role Overview: The Emergency Department (ED) - Charge Nurse (RN) is responsible for coordinating patient care, unit activities, and staff performance during a shift. Key Responsibilities Assist nurse manager/director in managing clinical and non-clinical activities, ensuring smooth unit operation.Support, evaluate, and prioritize patient care needs while supervising staff and unit operations.Assign staff and delegate tasks to meet patient needs, monitor assignment effectiveness, and ensure quality care.Manage staffing considerations based on patient acuity, volume, and staff availability.Serve as a liaison during the nurse manager/director's absence, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.Promote quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and excellent customer service.Mentor and support staff development, assist with performance evaluations, and participate in committee activities.Troubleshoot immediate issues, provide direct patient care when needed, and uphold organizational values. Qualifications & Skills Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with at least 1 year of RN clinical experience.Valid Arizona Nursing License and certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, NIHSS, and relevant specialty credentials.Preferred BSN degree.Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
