Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Outpatient Endocrinology Clinic

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team at our Endocrinology Clinic. In this important role, you will provide direct care and support the Endocrine system, assisting with medical procedures, conducting health assessments, and ensuring comfort and well-being of patients during visits. You will work closely with our healthcare team to deliver personalized care while helping to maintain a positive and supportive environment for seniors.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate.
• Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.
• Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, ear irrigation, and performing EKG's. Acts as chaperon as needed.
• Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed.
• Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.
• Captures and communicates test results to patient.
• Acts as a resource to clinician to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.
• Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, which may include completing medical records, labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
• Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances.
• Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas. Monitors inventory including medication/injectables and immunizations (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).
• Develops and maintains an effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers.
• Completes all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
• Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Medical Assistant Registration is required.
• Current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Recent healthcare experience preferred.
• Preferred qualifications include:
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills.

Pay

Compensation $21.07 to $30.34 hourly wage based on experience and education.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
