The Springfield Public Schools is announcing a contingent position for a Paraprofessional: Elementary for their Extended Year (Summer 2026) Program. Applications are open from April 13, 2026, to May 29, 2026, via MYSPS.

About the role

Paraprofessionals will report to the Building Principal or designee. Funding is provided under the General – Special Education category. The salary is per contract.

Work schedule

The program runs from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2026, with two different schedules available:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am-1:45pm
  • Monday to Friday, 7:30am-2:00pm

Teachers will attend a mandatory training session with the Summer Coordinator, facilitated by the School Program Coordinator. The Coordinator is responsible for training staff on the selected curriculum and summer expectations.

Responsibilities

Paraprofessionals will provide instructional assistance under the direction of the teacher, assist in clerical tasks, feed students during lunch and snack periods, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional in the Springfield Public Schools
  • No layoff notice received
  • Prior preference given to paraprofessionals working in the same program during the academic year
  • Prior preference given to those who have worked in the extended year program for continuity and social/emotional development
  • Availability for the entire program work schedule
  • Secured position for the 2026-2027 school year
