About the role
New Foundations Charter School is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is 10-month, paid over 12 months, with full benefits.
Responsibilities

- Support classroom and special education teachers by providing information and support.
- Record and report appropriate data regarding academic, behavioral, and/or health information and services provided to students.
- Assist students in using instructional materials and equipment.
- Provide verbal and/or written feedback of student observations to the teacher.
- Work with students to reinforce instructional objectives and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives.
- Adapt activities, assignments, and/or materials as directed by the teacher to allow students to participate in the instructional program.
- Implement the IEP as directed by the teacher for students with disabilities receiving special education services.
- Attend IEP or Service Plan meetings at the request of the principal, teacher, and/or parent for a student with disabilities receiving special education services or a 504 Service Plan.
- Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist in developing appropriate social skills.
- Manage and shape student behavioral techniques and/or positive reinforcement strategies.
- Maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff.
- Monitor and assist students in educational and community settings.
- Communicate with the teacher(s) on behalf of the child.
- Communicate with the family, as directed by the teacher.
- Assist students with class routines and in transitioning from one activity or location to the next.
- Guide students in developing positive, appropriate interpersonal relationships with peers and adults.
- Assist the child with daily living skills, including eating, drinking, dressing, and grooming.
- Assist students with ambulation, positioning, turning, and/or mobility within the school premises, class trips, and in the community.
- Assist the child with personal hygiene, including lavatory functions.
- Ensure the student utilizes all needed/required safety/health equipment, such as a helmet, glasses, or hearing aid.
- Notify the student's teacher of any equipment that may be damaged or in need of repair, such as a wheelchair or hearing aid.
- Administer First Aid and/or CPR whenever needed and/or required.
- Report any change in daily physical condition for a student with severe medical/mobility needs or who is medically fragile.
- Exhibit a professional image and demeanor at all times.
- Commit to continual professional growth.
- Attend all professional development meetings and faculty/staff meetings.
- Participate and support grade-level activities and school-wide functions throughout the school-year.
- Adhere to school schedule and be punctual for work and meetings.
- Maintain an effective and positive relationship with colleagues, staff, and supervisors.
- Illustrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude towards students of varied age groups, temperaments, and abilities.
- Maintain student confidentiality and handle information and materials with complete security.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Act calmly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Requirements
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED and a working knowledge in reading, writing, and math.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred, RBT Certificate is a plus.
- Possess a minimum of two years experience working with children, preferably in a K-8 school setting.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the growth, development, and potential educational challenges of students with disabilities and the ability to apply behavior modification or management strategies, techniques, and reinforcement methods.
