About the role

New Foundations Charter School is seeking a full-time Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is 10-month, full benefits, and operates from 6:30-2:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist in developing appropriate social skills.
• Assist in the management and shaping of student behavioral techniques and/or positive reinforcement strategies.
• Maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff.
• Communicate with the teacher(s) on behalf of the child.
• Assist students with class routines and in transitioning from one activity or location to the next.
• Guide students in developing positive, appropriate interpersonal relationships with peers and adults.
• Assist the child with daily living skills, including eating, drinking, dressing, and grooming.
• Assist students with ambulation, positioning, turning, and/or mobility within the school premises, class trips, and in the community.
• Assist the child with personal hygiene, including lavatory functions.
• Ensure the student utilizes all needed/required safety/health equipment, such as a helmet, glasses, or hearing aid.
• Notify the student's teacher of any equipment that may be damaged or in need of repair, such as a wheelchair or hearing aid.
• Administer First Aid and/or CPR whenever needed and/or required.
• Report any change in daily physical condition for a student with severe medical/mobility needs or who is medically fragile.
• Exhibit a professional image and demeanor at all times.
• Commit to continual professional growth.
• Attend all professional development meetings and faculty/staff meetings.
• Participate and support grade-level activities and school-wide functions throughout the school-year.
• Adhere to school schedule and be punctual for work and meetings.
• Maintain an effective and positive relationship with colleagues, staff, and supervisors.
• Illustrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude towards students of varied age groups, temperaments, and abilities.
• Maintain student confidentiality and handle information and materials with complete security.

• Possess a High School Diploma or GED and a working knowledge in reading, writing, and math.
