Contingent on enrollment, funding, and programming for the Extended Year (Summer 2026) Program.

About the role

Reports to the Building Principal or designee. Funding provided through General - Special Education.

Schedule

Program dates: July 6, 2026 - July 30, 2026
Work hours: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm (teachers required to attend mandatory training; staff meeting date to be selected by Coordinator)

Pay

Per contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional assistance, under the direction of the teacher, to a small group or individual student(s).
• Provide clerical services such as preparing, duplicating, organizing, and distributing materials to children and other miscellaneous clerical tasks.
• Assist in feeding during lunch and snack periods when needed.
• Feed, diaper, and assist with personal hygiene as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Presently employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional in the Springfield Public Schools.
• Has not received a layoff notice.
• Availability required for the entire program work schedule.
• Must have a secured position for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Preference given to paraprofessionals presently working in the same program during the academic year.
• Preference given to paraprofessionals who have worked in the extended year program to facilitate continuity of instruction and social/emotional development.
