Purpose Statement
This Behavior Consultant provides quality ABA services to the patients on the Specialty Inpatient Pediatric Unit under the supervision of a BCBA. In addition, the Behavior Consultant assists the professional who develops and implements ongoing services to the staff.
Essential Functions
- Aid in the implementation of ABA programming on the Specialized Inpatient Pediatric Unit
- Train new staff on ABA techniques
- Keep abreast of advances in treatment and set appropriate goals for self-improvement
- Attend and assist in facilitating daily team meetings
- Attend staff meetings as required and complete all yearly mandatory in-services
- Provide direct services to the patients on the Specialized Inpatient Pediatric Unit as well as assist on other units when needed
- Conduct the appropriate assessments in a timely manner under the supervision of a BCBA
- Consult with patients in the emergency department and determine their appropriateness for the unit and the hospital's programming
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
- A Master’s degree in a field related to working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who require behavior services is preferred.
- BCBA or continuing coursework towards Board Certified Analyst Certification required.
- Documented experience working with, developing, and implementing positive Behavior Support Plans for individuals with IDD is required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
