Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications
About the role
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. This position supports integrated marketing and communications projects related to the College’s strategic plan and College-wide marcom efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating and competing priorities.
- Represent the MarCom team with and in the absence of the Executive Director.
- Analyze and report on projects and campaigns.
- Create and implement integrated campaign messaging.
- Design accessible files for print, forms, PPT, other.
- Interpret and report on campaign performance metrics, with a focus on continuous improvement and ROI.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team in a dynamic, multi-functional environment.
- Develop and implement strategic marketing and communication campaigns for key initiatives across the College.
- Assist Executive Director in program/department specific campaigns and communication planning.
- Assist Executive Director with content development, writing, proofing and editing.
- Provide reports on analysis, research and reporting.
- Handle department/program area requests and school-wide/system-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data from multiple sources to inform strategic decision-making.
Proven experience applying marketing, public relations, and/or communications strategies within a higher education or similarly complex environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently and simultaneously.
Professional presence with a commitment to delivering exceptional internal and external customer service.
Ability to take direction while independently managing and executing projects from concept to completion.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to develop content across various platforms and clearly articulate ideas, strategies, and plans.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of branding principles and experience maintaining brand consistency across multiple channels.
- Ability to interpret and report on campaign performance metrics, with a focus on continuous improvement and ROI.
- Operation of a State Vehicle.

- Experience and aptitude in marketing and communications, including integrated campaign planning, working on creative teams, copywriting and copyediting, and of content management and similar applications.
- Experience working in marketing within higher education a plus.

Pay
$78,000 - $83,000
Schedule
40 hours weekly, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
