About the role
The Division of Industrial Compliance and its associated boards ensure Ohioans are safe in public buildings such as businesses, educational institutions and municipal buildings. This includes drafting and applying the Ohio Building Code; conducting appeal hearings; issuing variances to code requirements; licensing commercial contractors; inspecting boilers, elevators and bedding; and regulating ski tramways. The division has responsibility for portions of the Manufactured Homes Program, and licenses installers and parks. The division also oversees Ohio's minimum wage, prevailing wage and minor labor law programs.
Responsibilities
- Generate and/or issue documents based on daily reports using the internal licensing system
- Assist customers with basic questions or issues related to the online portal and general licensing processes, via phone and email
- Evaluate and process straightforward licensing applications for approval in accordance with established guidelines
- Manage exam-related tasks by assigning the appropriate exams to applicants, overseeing exam sessions and entering exam results in the system
- Maintain accurate records by updating applicant and licensee information in the licensing system as needed
Qualifications
- 18 months experience or 18 months training in secretarial/administrative professional field
- Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college
- Or 6 months experience as Administrative Professional 1, 16871
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above
