About the role
The Division of Industrial Compliance and its associated boards ensure Ohioans are safe in public buildings such as businesses, educational institutions, and municipal buildings. This includes drafting and applying the Ohio Building Code; conducting appeal hearings; issuing variances to code requirements; licensing commercial contractors; inspecting boilers, elevators, and bedding; and regulating ski tramways. The division also oversees Ohio's minimum wage, prevailing wage, and minor labor law programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide phone, email, mail, and system-based routine and non-routine, direct customer service related to regulatory, permitting, invoicing, inspection, certification, and fiscal and technical issues for internal and external customers.
- Work in an internal database system (AMANDA) in conjunction with an external submission system (IC Portal), process applications under our review purview, and provide customer support related to those reviews ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Work in cross-functional teams addressing needs of various programmatic areas to ensure legal and administrative requirements are met, and, working with peers and supervisor, correct issues of varying complexity when necessary.
- Assist with special projects as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
18 months of experience or 18 months of training in a secretarial/administrative professional field. Alternatively, completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from an accredited career school or community college. Alternatively, 6 months of experience as an Administrative Professional 1, 16871. Equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
