About the role
The position involves supporting the development of BCom students' oral communication (speaking, presenting) and other professional communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate group and individual appointments with students to provide feedback on both oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on oral communication skills and presentation skills.
- Provide coaching and feedback on aspects of students’ oral communication and presentations, such as verbal and non-verbal delivery (pace, eye contact, intonation, structure, etc.) and how content is structured in a presentation.
- Support students with video-based assessments and help them with effective video presentations.
- Offer support and feedback on the structure, design, and presentation of slide decks and other visual aids (graphics, data visualizations).
- Support students with both individual and group assignments.
- Provide feedback on drafts of written assignments and support for building effective writing skills.
- Work with the Rotman Commerce Centre for Professional Skills team and BCom course instructors/TAs on deliverables related to the development of professional skills, and/or the development of teaching resources related to oral or written communication skills, or presentation skills.
- Deliver duties both online (using WCOnline and Zoom) and in-person (to be scheduled in consultation with the Communications/Presentation TA).
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a background in finance, accounting, or management, excellent command of spoken and written English, and a deep interest in teaching professional skills to undergraduate students. Recent industry experience related to a business or management field is preferred.

- A demonstrated commitment to best practices in pedagogy.
- Experience developing students’ skills through similar initiatives to those listed above.
Skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide detailed feedback to students on these skills.
- Experience providing feedback on oral communication deliverables/presentations, or teaching oral communication or presentation skills, at the university level or in a business environment.

Pay
$55.25 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
Schedule
Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027.

The position is open to Graduate Students in the School of Graduate Studies, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Undergraduate Students in the University of Toronto. Preference in hiring shall be given to Graduate Students enrolled in the School of Graduate Studies of the University of Toronto or those who have made application to be enrolled in the School of Graduate Studies of the University of Toronto.
