Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department
- Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
- Demonstrate and teach behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
- Work with students interested in sports, providing practice support and advice for team success during the season
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
- Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals
- Serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions
Work Environment
- On-site attendance is mandatory
- Work involves evenings and weekends
Reports to: Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with high school principals.
