Youth Services Coach (part-time)
This is a part-time role up to 25 hours per week, located at a local Peoria middle school running an after-school program.

About the role
The Youth Services Coach will support Goodwill’s youth programming, working with ages 10–14 to develop skills in conflict resolution, self-regulation, coping strategies, and de-escalation. This role involves providing one-on-one and small group support to youth, helping them navigate daily stressors and challenges in a safe, non-violent way. The Youth Services Coach will contribute to program development and design, educate families and community members on trauma and youth mental health, and collaborate with other Goodwill programs to provide a holistic, wrap-around approach. The role requires autonomous decision-making and ethical judgment while ensuring program fidelity and participant safety.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with youth in programs to build trust and teach social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, and coping strategies.
- Manage a small caseload of youth requiring additional one-on-one support to succeed in group settings.
- Respond calmly and effectively to youth experiencing crises, employing trauma-informed practices rather than restraint or seclusion.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to advocate and promote trauma-informed care and service linkages for youth, reinforcing behavioral supports across environments.
- Create and maintain behavior support plans, monitor progress, and adjust interventions as needed.
- Collect, track, and report program data to comply with program requirements and support continuous improvement.
- Organize and facilitate group or individual coaching on topics such as mental well-being, coping skills for trauma, and principles from Goodwill’s holistic Mission Coach approach.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for youth, families, volunteers, and external partners.
- Represent Goodwill in the community through outreach, networking, and resource development to expand program impact.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training on trauma-informed practices, youth mental health, and other relevant topics.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor and ensure equitable, culturally competent interactions with all participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program success and participant well-being.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to deliver guidance, feedback, and program information effectively.
- Experience supporting youth in social-emotional development, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practices.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with youth, families, and community partners using a strengths-based, client-centered approach.
- Works independently, makes sound decisions in the best interest of youth, and demonstrates accountability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or G Suite; experience with database systems preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills to analyze data, processes, and strategies for identifying trends and creating solutions.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships at all levels, both inside and outside the organization.
- Adheres to procedures and protocol, including maintaining confidentiality and alignment with Goodwill’s values.
- Solid knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, databases, and the internet.
- Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule beyond normal business hours.
- Willingness to travel to participants’ homes, workplaces, community centers, and other venues at times convenient to those served.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.

This position is supported by grant funding and is considered at-will employment. While the organization anticipates the role will continue long-term, continuation is dependent on the availability and renewal of grant funding.
